Welcome to RIMScast. Your host is Justin Smulison, Business Content Manager at RIMS, the Risk and Insurance Management Society.
This week on the podcast, Justin is joined by several guests to discuss the upcoming RIMS Virtual Advocacy Week & Legislative Summit which will be held September 14th-17th, 2020.
Joining Justin first to discuss the summit is Whitney Craig, RIMS Director of Government Affairs. She joins Justin briefly to tell listeners all about the upcoming virtual events, programs, and networking opportunities.
After their discussion, Justin is joined by two prominent Legislative Summit alumni. They are both fantastic members of RIMS Advocacy and do a great job advocating for RIMS as well as their organizations.
Manny Padilla is the Vice President of Risk Management & Insurance at MacAndrews & Forbes Incorporated. He’s also a RISKPAC trustee and has attended several RIMS Legislative Summits. With Justin, he discusses the work that he does in risk management, what he’s looking forward to at this year’s summit, his experiences as a RISKPAC trustee, and what is currently on top of mind for him and his company when it comes to legislative issues and advocacy.
Penni Nelson is the Assistant Vice President of Risk Management at Hillwood Development Group in Texas. She is a very active member of RIMS and is currently the secretary (and past president) of the RIMS Dallas Fort Worth Chapter. In their conversation, Penni shares some of her favorite highlights from past RIMS Legislative Summits, what she is looking forward to at this year’s, what her RIMS membership and participation has been like thus far, and why she feels that participating in advocacy is important.
