Welcome to RIMScast. Your host is Justin Smulison, Business Content Manager at RIMS, the Risk and Insurance Management Society.
Joining Justin in today’s episode is a very exciting guest; 2021 RIMS Canada Conference keynote speaker, Séan McCann!
Séan is an Order of Canada recipient and a co-founder of the renowned Canadian folk band, Great Big Sea. He has spent the past seven years touring the country as a musical keynote speaker, singing and sharing his story with front-line workers, teachers, students, patients, inmates, veterans, and anyone who has been affected by addiction or abuse. After 20 years with Great Big Sea, Séan embarked on a solo career that has furthered his professional voyage. In addition, Séan has also co-authored a powerful book with his wife, Andrea Aragon, called, One Good Reason: A Memoir of Addiction and Recovery, Music and Love.
In this episode, Séan shares what he has in store for his 2021 RIMS Canada Conference keynote performance, his experiences performing as a solo act vs. a group act, his insights on how risk and music are related, and his key takeaways and words of hope regarding addiction and recovery.
Be sure to catch his live performance on Oct. 5th at 12 p.m. EST at RIMS Canada 2021!
